It was after midnight when the front door of the Odessa Police Department slid open and a very good boy walked up to the counter. But, who was this lost boy and why was he there?

Perhaps he wasn’t lost at all, but was inquiring about any open K9 positions in the department? The handsome stranger didn’t have much to say, but was happy to entertain officers with a few rounds of fetch in the station lobby while they tried to solve the case.

Although he was wearing a collar, his name tag had fallen off. Officers reached out to Odessa Animal Control to fetch a microchip reader, but apparently tired of waiting, the very good boy decided to solve the case on his own.

“He ran out just as quick as he came in,” Sergeant Rusty Martin said. “The owner responded the next day it was his dog and he had returned home. He lives about a mile from the station.”
Chico is now safely back at home with his family, but not without making a bunch of new friends in the police force first.
